Carpet In Living Room Mumsnet

A bright living room with white walls and black and white checker carpet flooring.
Carpet in living room mumsnet. The living room carpet is horrendously stained dirty and grubby. The sensible solution what with children cats food etc would be a wood engineer probably laminate possibly with rugs but somehow i just can t bring myself to abandon lovely comfortable warm carpets. By jennifer taylor studio. Laminate is great for the dining area but my son likes to play cars on the table or shall i say drop cars off the table so the floor is dented all around his seat.
Having just bought a new house i am after the collective wisdom of mumsnet to help guide me through flooring. It can be laid over floorboards and under wooden floors too. I wasn t sure what section was most appropriate so also posted this in the property diy boards. We re planning an extension and will be having ceramic tiles in the hall and kitchen and wood in the living room with underfloor heating throughout.
It s quite a large l shaped living dining room and is also a through way to another room so gets a lot of wear one way or another. We have moved to a new house and the living room has a nice cream carpet. This living room offers a cozy sofa set in front of the large fireplace with a widescreen tv on the top of the wall. Is your living room adjoining your next door neighbours living room.
I however do wish one of my neighbours would put a carpet down. We need to replace the existing 70s carpet in our living room. Laminate flooring is nice but expensive and we need to keep it v cheap as everything else needs doing at the same time. Yesterday i went to ikea and bought a rug to inject some life in to the room but dp said its proper odd to have a rug on top of a carpet.
It has to go. Next month we are looking to replace the living room carpet as this one is full of annoying stains etc. We are now at the stage where we want to carpet our living room after lockdown has finished and get rid of the wooden flooring that s down. I definitely want carpet after having wood for 2 years.
When we have measured the room it is 8 10m x 5 6m and i m struggling on my online browsing to find carpet this wide. I love the idea of either laminate or engineered wood flooring in bedrooms with then a rug or a few for get out of bed with warm feet and coziness to tie the room together. Only 4m or 5m. The room has cream walls too so it s all very plain.
Carpet makes the living room nice and cosy. Carpet deadens a lot of noise where as laminate doesn t. Obviously depends on how bothered you are about the neighbours hearing your noise. We ll get rid of the radiator in living room and hall to get more floor space but keep a small one in the kitchen for utility.
